We’re not here to stay stuck in what happened. We’re here to build what comes next.

For years, I believed that if I could just explain myself one more time, I would finally be understood. That things would change. That life would get better. When I finally walked away, I carried anger. But I also carried something stronger: resolve.

I made a promise to myself that I would not lose the laughter or the light I had fought so hard to protect through every trial life had placed before me. Instead, I chose to hold on to the quiet strength that had carried me through my darkest moments.

Those moments didn’t just shape me. They revealed who I already was. They reminded me of something I now believe is true for all of us: strength doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it whispers. Sometimes it simply helps us take the next step.

I’m Mary Elizabeth, a survivor of domestic violence, a mother, an advocate, a communications strategist, a co-founder of schools and charitable organizations, and, admittedly, a devoted coffee lover.

Most importantly, I’m someone who believes that healing is possible.

The tools we need are often already within us. We simply have to rediscover them. That quiet resilience, that unwavering hope, that determination to keep moving forward – that is quiet strength.

And from that belief, The Quiet Strength Project was born.

This isn’t just my story.
